We could not find sustainably produced Bi Luo Chun tea from Dong Ting, sso we decided to buy this tea in Yunnan. In Yunnan the "large leaf" variety is produced.

Yunnan Bi Luo Chun is softer and fruitier compared to the Dong Ting variant.

High in the top ten of China's best teas is a green tea from the nearby city of Suzhou, the Bi Luo Chun Green Tea, also called Spring Snail or Pi Lo Chun. This green tea was first produced in the Ling Yuan Temple so the tea was also immediately appointed as being imperial.

The long twisted leaves often resemble coiled spirals hence the word "snail" in the name of this tea. This Chinese tea is fried in a wok at 200 degrees Celsius. A famous tea we like to have in our collection as well ....

But unfortunately we could not find any Bi Luo Chun from Dong Ting that met our standard of sustainability. That is why we went to a different province in Yunnan, where the Bi Luo Chun is also produced. Our Biluochun is a "large leaf" variety of tea which grows on the ancient tea trees of Yunnan.

The Yunnan Bi Luo Chun is produced in the same manner as the Dong Ting variant, entirely consisting of the first harvest in the spring. The young buds are picked by hand. Yunnan Bi Luo Chun is softer and fruitier than the Dong Ting variant, with a hint of apricot.
