This white tea got its name because the leaves are dried in the light of the moon after the spring harvest, but as well because the one white side and the other dark side represent the part of the moon we can see and the one we can't.

This Yunnan white tea is a great addition to our white tea selection, since it's completely different from our Fujian white teas.

This white tea got its name because the leaves are dried in the light of the moon after the spring harvest, but as well because the one white side and the other dark side represent the part of the moon we can see and the one we can't. The flavor is surprisingly soft and fruity, it's like a combination of oolong tea, black tea and white tea. After picking, this tea is dried in the shade and undergoes no further processing. The tea is slightly fermented. The leaves are picked from the Jingju "dayezhong" variety, dayezhong meaning big leaf variety.

The Moonshine White is a relatively new tea. The interesting thing is that tea areas learned form each other this time. In Fujian, tea growers started to press their teas into cakes to let them age. These cakes are now famous in China for their health benefits. Tea growers in Yunnan learned from Fujian tea growers how to produce white tea and produced a white tea which is white in colour and processed as white tea, but still seen as a puerh tea.
